Looking for a conservative take on the effect of the President’s stimulus package in West Michigan, the Wall Street Journal turned to congressional candidate Jay Riemersma. In an article titled, Obama Courts Stimulus Skeptics, Riemersma makes the case that despite the good news with LG Chem, West Michigan residents understand that government spending and stimulus are doing little to revive the economy while increasing the debt burdened faced by future generations.
“This is one instance where you can see job creating coming from it, but again…at what cost?” said Republican Jay Riemersma, a former pro-football player who is running for Mr. Hoekstra’s House seat. “People don’t want government stimulus and government spending…In their mind we’re mortgaging their future and their grandchildren’s future.”
